About Nomads Botanist
In 2018 we retired and purchased our first caravan. After a trial shakedown trip through the Northern Territory, we were hooked. We sold our house and set off to criss-cross as much of Australia as we could.
It soon became apparent that we much preferred the easy going of the outback and red centre, rather than the hustle and bustle of the coastal, touristy areas. We found Australia is so much more than the populated costal areas, although they also have an amazing diversity of flora and fauna when you slow down and look.
The desert proved to be so much more than sand and rocks. When you stop your car and take a walk through the country you find so much life: hardy, beautiful flowers, intriguing little, and not so little, lizards, birds and much more. Of course the scenery is also amazing.

There is the truly amazing red centre with Kings Canyon and the McDonnell Ranges, flowing down into South Australia with Flinders Ranges and the Nullarbor Plain. The tropical wetlands and rainforests of Cape York and the Northern Territory. The awesome isolated west coast - the Kimberley and the Pilbara of Western Australia. Then there is the totally different southern areas, with their stunning forests and wildflowers. Tasmania is an outstanding destination all on its own, with truly amazing wildlife and flora which has developed in isolation to the rest of Australia.
It’s been an amazing few years with much still to see and places that we are very keen to revisit and places we are yet to get to. We see no end date in sight yet.We can definitely recommend that you get out there and see as much of this amazing country as you can. Happy travels.

About Us
About Nomads Botanist
In the vast and varied landscapes of Australia, a couple have dedicated their lives to the pursuit of botanical wonders. With a trusty camper van as their home and a passion for the natural world as their guide, they traversed the dusty red roads of the Outback, the lush rainforests of Queensland, to the rugged coastlines of Tasmania.
Each discovery was a treasure, from the delicate orchids hidden in the Daintree to the ancient Wollemi pines standing tall in the Blue Mountains.
Their journey was more than a mere collection of data; it was a love letter to the biodiversity of Australia. The couple have meticulously photographed each plant, capturing the intricate details of petals and leaves, and recorded their findings in a growing archive. They also spread awareness about the importance of preserving these natural wonders. Their work is a testament to the power of curiosity and the enduring human spirit to explore and protect our world's precious ecosystems.
The vision is to seek out the rarest flora, document their beauty and characteristics, and pinpoint their locations for future generations to cherish.
